Welcome to my Wednesday Blog, which is all about release date changes. Gah.

The Modern Frankenstein Collected Edition is In Comic Shops Now, I Think

The collected edition of The Modern Frankenstein, my twisted horror/romance with artist Emma Vieceli, colour artist Pippa Bowland and letterer Simon Bowland is almost certainly now in comic stores, and can be pre-ordered (for a release date in book stores, both online and physical of October 28th) on these links from Amazon UK and US! Here’s the cover.

Cover by Vieceli and Bowland.

Star Trek: Year Five #25 is Out Next Week!

This one I’m more certain of. The last issue of Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly’s final season of the Original Series is now out next Wednesday, October 6th, with contributions from everyone who worked on the series, myself included. Here’s the cover.

Cover by Stephen Thompson.

And the final collected edition Experienced in Loss, is out on January 18th, 2022. It’ll contain the Valentine’s Day Special I wrote from the series, with art by Christopher Jones, and #20-#25 of the series, including my few pages in the last issue. It’s been an honour to be asked to contribute, and I’m delighted my issue is included in the collection. You can pre-order on these links from Amazon UK and Amazon US.

The version of the cover for the collected edition.

The I Walk With Monsters Collected Edition is Out in October!

The collected edition of my heartfelt horror comic with artist Sally Cantirino, colour artist Dearbhla Kelly and letterer Deron Bennett, I Walk With Monsters, is out on October 13th (in the UK and in comic stores) and October 28th (in the US and in book stores, physical and digital) and you can pre-order it now from these links on Amazon UK and Amazon US. I’m hearing this is a very lovely edition indeed, which makes my heart glad, because this series is so important to me.

Cover by Cantirino and Kelly.

Tales from the Quarantine

Tales from the Quarantine is a charity comics anthology involving over 400 creative people, designed to help those, particularly comic creators, who suffered financial losses during the pandemic. All net profits will be donated to the Hero Initiative, NHS Together and the Lyr Fund. I’ve got a strip in here, and so has just about every comicker you’ve ever heard of. It’s sure to become a collector’s item, so get your orders in now! (The pre-order deadline has now been extended, and it’ll be shipping in late October.)

Cover by Rachael Stott.

Rosebud

Rosebud is my forthcoming (on April 26th 2022!) gonzo hard SF novella from Tor.com Publishing. It’s a spaceship book with lots of comedy, lots of science and a bit of wallop. Here’s the blurb:

“The crew of the Rosebud are, currently, and by force of law, a balloon, a goth with a swagger stick, some sort of science aristocrat possibly, a ball of hands, and a swarm of insects. Digitally speaking, that is. The ship has assembled its crew of sentient artificial intelligences to discuss an unusual object picked up by its sensors. They have no idea what this encounter will mean for the fate of all existence. Nor will they remember. The story is a humorous tale in the vein of Douglas Adams with lots to say about choice, reality, programming, and what it means to be a person.”

You can find many more details, including how to order from several US bookstores, here. And if you want to pre-order from Amazon UK, you can do that here.

Here’s the lovely cover.

Cover by Jim Tierney. (The Seanan McGuire blurb is a placeholder from Witches of Lychford.)

Doctor Who

BBC)

The BBC have announced that Russell T Davies, the man behind the return of Doctor Who in 2005, is once again to take the helm of the television series for its 60th Anniversary and further series beyond.

As the first showwunner of Doctor Who, Davies's tenure saw the programme surge in popularity and win a number of accolades, and his departure in 2009 left a legacy which continues some sixteen years later!

Speaking of his return, Davies said:

I'm beyond excited to be back on my favourite show. But we're time-travelling too fast, there's a whole series of Jodie Whittaker's brilliant Doctor to me to enjoy, with my friend and hero Chris Chibnall at the helm - I'm still a viewer for now.

Chibnall says of Davie's return:

It's monumentally exciting and fitting that Doctor Who's 60th anniversary will see one of Britain's screenwriting diamonds return home. Russell built the baton that is about to be handed back to him - Doctor Who, the BBC, the screen industry in Wales, and let's be honest everyone in the whole world, have so many reasons to be Very Excited indeed about what lies ahead.

Piers Wenger, BBC Director of Drama said:

As the 13th Doctor prepares to embark on new and extraordinary adventures, the winds of change are blowing… bringing with them news to delight Doctor Who fans across the globe. We are thrilled that Russell is returning to Doctor Who to build on the huge achievements of Chris and Jodie. Thank you to the two of them and the team in Cardiff for all they continue to do for the show and hello Russell, it’s wonderful to have you back.

The show will be produced by BBC Studios in partnership with Bad Wolf, the production company created by Davies's former co-producer Julie Gardner and the former BBC Head of Drama, Jane Tranter.
